Howard F. (Bunny, Cigar, Dave) Davis Jr., age 78, of Hagerstown passed away February 12, 2026.

Born November 15, 1947 in Hagerstown, MD, he was the son of the late Howard F. and Ruth E. (Roher) Davis Sr.

He attended Boonsboro High School. He worked numerous jobs including Morgan-Keller and the Myersville Gulf and Exxon gas stations before he spent 34 ½ years as a custodian at Myersville Elementary School.

He was a lifetime member of Myersville Volunteer Fire Co. where he was a fire policeman.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Doris (Sue) Grossnickle Davis. Four children - Vicki (Johnnie), Denise (David), Mark (Karin) and Jamie (Angie). Five grandchildren - Jeremiah (Nicki), Corey (Devin), Zach (Kelli) Derrick (Amanda) and Stephanie. Four great-grandchildren -Ayden, Paige, Riot and Effie. Five step-grandchildren and ten step-great–grandchildren. He was predeceased by one great-grandchild - Madison Elaine. Two brothers-in-law Larry (Hazel) and Dennis (Beverly) and nieces and nephews. He was an only child.

Bunny loved to play pool, fish, and gamble; and you never saw him without his Redman chew.

The family would like to thank Coffman and Creekside Nursing Homes with a special thank you to his favorite nurses - Kaitlyn, Chelsea, Keyana, Nadia, Destinee, Kathryn and Nakkisha.

The family will receive friends at Davis Funeral home February 19, 2026 from 6-8. The funeral will be at Grossnickle Church of the Brethren on February 20 at 11:00.

I lieu of flowers donations may be made to Coffman Nursing Home Activites Department in his name.
