Robert “Bob” Lourdon, 89, of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 28, 2026, just days before his 90th birthday.
Born on March 9, 1936, in Flint, Michigan, Bob was the beloved son of the late Henry J. Lourdon and Bertha M. Lourdon. From an early age, he was instilled with the values of faith, hard work, and dedication—principles that guided him throughout his life.
Bob proudly served his country for 15 years in the United States Army, including service as a Vietnam Veteran. Following his military career, he continued serving his nation as a civilian employee with the Department of Defense at Fort Ritchie, Maryland. Earlier in his career, Bob worked at Hershberger Chevrolet, where he began as a mechanic and faithfully advanced to Service Manager. He retired in January 2002 after many years of diligent and honorable work.
A devoted man of faith, Bob was a committed member of Germantown Church of God, where he faithfully served as a Trustee. His church family was dear to his heart, and he lived out his faith through quiet strength, steady service, and Christ-like love for others.
Bob was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his cherished wife, Dorothy Jean Eckelbarger Lourdon; his five children: Barry Lourdon (wife Dolores) of Chambersburg, PA; Pamela Poling (husband Rick) of Endicott, NY; Dana Lourdon (wife Janice) of Blue Ridge Summit, PA; Scott Lourdon (fiance Lorraine Sipe) of Waynesboro, PA; and Michelle Johnson (husband Jeffrey). He was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
Bob’s life was a testament to faithfulness—to his God, his country, his church, and his family. While his earthly presence will be deeply missed, his family rejoices in the promise of eternal life and the assurance that he now rests in the peace and presence of the Lord.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
A celebration of Bob’s life will be announced by the family.
